  • What can I do in my online account?

    You can easily:

    • See your current plan details.
    • Make changes to your plans.
    • View billing statements and make secure payments.
    • Update your contact information and payment methods.- Manage your account settings.
  • Are there long-term contracts?

No. All eq telecom plans are month-to-month. Change or cancel anytime, no penalties, no early termination fees. We believe in flexibility and giving families the room to adjust as their kids grow.

  • How do I know which step is right for my child?

It depends on your child's age, maturity, and your family's pace. Most families start at Step 1 (Talk & Text) and move forward when their child is ready. Some highlights:

    • Step 1: Talk & Text - A simple flip phone with calling and texting. The cleanest first start.
    • Step 2: Wi-Fi Flip - Same simplicity, with Wi-Fi at home for messaging and basic browsing.
    • Step 3: Slow Data - Maps and messages. No feeds, no social, no apps.
    • Step 4: Smartphone with Slow Data - A smartphone with the same data discipline.
    • Step 5: Full Access - Earned over time, when they're truly ready.

If you're not sure where to start, reach out to our team during business hours. We can walk you through it.

  • Can I have different types of plans for different family members on one account?

Yes! Within a single eq account, you can have multiple plan types for family members. For example, one child can be on a Junior Starter (Talk & Text) plan while another is on a Junior Data plan. We designed our system to be flexible so everyone can have the plan that fits their needs under one bill.

  • What makes your kid phones “simple” or “less-addictive”?

The simplicity is built into the device and the plan, not bolted on afterward.

The phones themselves. Our flip phones have no app store, no social media, no algorithmic feeds. The friction is intentional. A phone that can only call and text is one a child can't disappear into.

The data design. When kids move to our Junior Data plan, speeds are set slow enough that maps and messages work and streaming doesn't. The limit does the work so you don't have to.

The path. Five stages from talk-and-text to full access, each one earned. The structure teaches habits rather than just restricting access. To learn more about how the phased journey works and why families find it effective, start here: https://eqtelecom.com/about-us/#5step

  • Can adults use these simple phones too?

Yes. All three of our flip phones work well for adults, and which one fits depends on how disconnected you actually want to be.

    • The BLU Tank Flip is the most stripped-back option. Talk and text only, no data, no Wi-Fi. If you want a true digital reset or a dedicated calls-and-texts device with nothing competing for your attention, this is it. Long battery life, durable, does exactly what a phone is supposed to do and nothing else. Pairs with our $5 Talk and Text plan.
    • The Nokia 2780 and HMD Barbie Flip sit a step up. Both support Wi-Fi and can be paired with a slow data plan, which means internet access when you need it without the pull of a full smartphone. Good for adults who want to reduce screen time without going completely offline. These map to Step 2 and Step 3 of our device ladder: connected, but intentionally limited.

All three are available with plans starting at $5 a month. If you're not sure which fits best, reach out and we're happy to help you figure it out.

  • How does the automatic speed adjustment work on the kids’ Junior Data plan?

It's designed to be a gentle guide that starts with slow speeds (slower web browsing while too slow for games or video). The plan includes two speed levels like 'Junior Safety' and 'Junior Basic'.

With excessive data use, the speed automatically shifts to Junior Basic, a way to naturally stop online use without cutting data completely. While we don't offer monitoring services, this also ensures essential functions like calls and texts remain active even at slower speeds.

  • What can my child do at Junior ‘Safety’ vs. ‘Unplug’ Speeds?
    • Junior Cruise Data: slow enough for basic browsing, too slow for effective streaming or gaming. Good for schoolwork and quick searches.
    • Junior Essentials Data: significantly reduces web access while keeping calls and texts fully available. Designed for moments when you want connectivity without the distraction.
  • How do speed adjustments work for plans for adults? Can I customize the levels?

Adult plans operate similarly, shifting speeds based on usage. You can also customize the thresholds through the plan you select, to fit your goals.

And of course, important things like calls, texts, and location tracking always remain active, even at slower speeds.

See options in our Digital Role Models Hub

  • Why use speed adjustments instead of just cutting off data?

We believe gentle slowdowns are more supportive than a hard cutoff. With speed management, kids keep essential connectivity, and families avoid surprise overage fees.

It also serves as a real-time reminder to be mindful of screen time without completely shutting off service. In short, slowing down data a bit helps everyone stay aware and connected in a caring way.

  • How do I pay for a phone?

Phones are purchased upfront at checkout. Our most affordable device starts at $60 and our highest-priced device is $120, keeping the entry point accessible without long device commitments.

  • Can I bundle my plan with my child’s?

Yes! eq makes it easy to manage both your plan and your child’s on one account. You can bundle your child’s plan with yours, giving you a single bill and one dashboard to track usage and settings for the whole family.

  • Do your phones support Wi-Fi?

Some models do and others purposely don’t. For young kids, we offer phones without Wi-Fi to encourage offline play and focus.

Phones without Wi-Fi limit access to risky apps and websites. We leave if it to parents to to decide when their child is ready for a phone with Wi-Fi.
