EQ Telecom LLC (“we”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our online customers. This Privacy Policy applies to EQ Telecom’s website, which is our primary point of operation. We collect personal information necessary to provide our services, including name, email, shipping address, phone number, and government-issued ID (for SIM/eSIM activation and compliance). We use this data to verify your identity, process your orders and service activations, and comply with regulatory requirements. If you choose not to provide this information, we may be unable to activate your wireless service or process your order.
Information We Collect.
- Personal Data: When you create an account or make a purchase, we collect your name, email, phone number, billing and shipping address, and a government-issued ID (as required by law for SIM activation).
- Account Information: You provide login credentials (username/password) and may give us preferences or other profile information.
- Usage Data: We automatically collect technical and usage information via cookies and similar technologies (for example, Google Analytics and Meta Pixel). This includes data about your browser, device, IP address, pages visited, and how you interact with our site.
- Payment Data: We collect payment details (credit/debit card, or other methods) to process transactions, but we do not store full payment credentials on our servers.
How We Use Your Information.
We use your personal data to:
- Process orders and activate your wireless service.
- Verify identity and comply with applicable regulations (e.g., for eSIM/SIM activation).
- Communicate with you about your account, service, or promotional offers (with your consent).
- Improve our website and services through analytics. For instance, we use Google Analytics cookies to gather statistics on site usage; by using our site, you consent to this tracking.
- SMS Communications: If you consent to receive SMS messages from EQ Telecom, we will use your mobile number to send you messages related to your account, service updates, and, with your consent, promotional offers.
- No Third-Party Sharing: No mobile opt-in or text message consent will be shared with third parties or affiliates.
We will not use your data for purposes you did not agree to, except as required by law. If we later need to collect additional sensitive information, we will require your explicit consent.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies.
We use cookies, pixel tags, local storage, and similar tools to make our site work and improve your experience. Cookies help us remember your preferences and understand site traffic. You may disable or remove cookies through your browser settings, but some features of the site may not function properly if you do so. By using our site, you consent to the use of cookies and similar technologies. For details on managing cookies and your choices, see our Cookies section below or the Privacy Policy (link) on our website.
Third-Party Analytics.
We use third-party analytics and advertising services (such as Google Analytics and Meta Pixel) to track and analyze usage. These services may collect information about your browsing behavior on our site. We do not have direct control over those services’ data collection, but you should know that they may use cookies and similar technologies. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share aggregated or anonymized data for research or marketing purposes, but not in a way that identifies you individually.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
- Service Providers: We share your information with trusted third-party service providers (e.g., payment processors, shipping carriers, cloud hosting, analytics services) only as needed to fulfill orders and operate the site.
- Legal Compliance: We will disclose personal data if required by law or to protect our rights (for example, in response to a court order or regulation).
- Business Transfers: If EQ Telecom is sold or undergoes reorganization, your information may be transferred to the successor entity under similar terms.
Data Security.
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your information. For example, we use encryption for data in transit (HTTPS) and secure servers for storage. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In accordance with Utah’s Consumer Privacy Act, businesses controlling personal data must protect its confidentiality and integrity. We follow these guidelines, but you should also safeguard your account credentials and report any suspicious activity to us promptly.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access and Correction: You may request access to the personal data we have about you. You can also ask us to correct any errors. Utah’s new Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to confirm if your data is being processed, and to obtain a copy of data you provided.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your personal data. We will review such requests and, if required by law, delete your data within 45 days of request, unless we need to retain it for legal or legitimate business reasons.
- Opt-Out: You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by following the “unsubscribe” link in our emails or contacting us. Under UCPA, Utah residents can opt out of the sale of their data or its use for targeted advertising; note we do not currently sell data.
- Cookie Choices: Most web browsers allow you to reject or delete cookies. See your browser’s help menu for instructions. If you disable cookies, some site features may not work.
To exercise your rights (access, deletion, etc.), please contact us as described in the “Contact Us” section below. We will verify your identity before processing requests to protect your privacy.
Children’s Privacy and Parental Consent.
Our children’s voice & text and limited-data plans are designed for use by minors under the age of 18, including those under 13, under the supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian. EQ Telecom does not collect any personal information directly from a minor. Instead:
- Parental Account Requirement: A parent or legal guardian (“you”) must create and manage the account for any minor under the age of 18. You provide all personal data (e.g., name, address, government ID) on behalf of your child and are responsible for maintaining valid account details.
- Verifiable Parental Consent (for children under 13): In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), for any child under the age of 13, verifiable parental consent is required before collecting any personal information. By creating an account for a minor, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian and consent to the collection and use of your child’s information for service activation and compliance with applicable laws.
- Data Use & Disclosure: We use your child’s data only to provide wireless service (e.g., activate SIM/eSIM, comply with regulatory requirements). We do not share your child’s personal information with third parties, except as required by law (e.g., emergency services, lawful requests).
- Parental Rights: You have the right to review, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about your child at any time. To make such requests, please contact us at customersupport@eqtelecom.com.
- Data Retention: We retain your child’s data only as long as necessary to provide service, comply with legal obligations, or fulfill legitimate business needs. Once the data is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it in accordance with our retention policy.
By signing up for a child plan, you acknowledge and agree to these terms on behalf of your child.
